Inside the blockchain
🌐What happened: Aptos-powered software Overlai launched its public beta testing via mobile app and Adobe plugin.
🌐Why does it matter: Overlai utilizes the Aptos blockchain by implanting invisible watermarks on a creators’ art, which is then recorded and stored, making an immutable record for the owner. Overlai integrates distributed ledger technology (DLT) to record authentic digital asset transactions, and the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA) to advocate for creators. The software startup aims to protect digital and intellectual property (IP) for creators as the world becomes more susceptible to digital theft and AI threats.
In a world that is becoming more digitized and prone to the usage of AI, the need for security of creator IP and digital property is a top priority for many. With the implementation of Overlai, this could create a stronger safety net and potentially inhibit the rise of generative art and theft in the creator space.
🌐The big picture: With the usage of the Aptos blockchain and invisible watermarks, Overlai hopes to build a platform that leverages blockchain technology, addressing the pain points for digital assets, creators, and IP.
