🔺 What we’re watching: VanEck’s Avalanche ETF (VAVX) went live on the Nasdaq on January 26. The fund recorded $2.4 million in assets under management on its first day of trading.
🔺 Why it matters: Unlike most spot crypto ETFs that focus on price exposure, VAVX integrates staking rewards directly into its net asset value (NAV), offering indirect access to Avalanche’s native yield alongside AVAX price movements.
This structure removes the need for token custody or validator management, lowering operational barriers for institutions seeking exposure to proof-of-stake economics.
🔺 The bigger picture: The VAVX ETF joins a growing group of staking-enabled crypto ETFs launched for Ethereum and Solana. These products point to an evolving ETF landscape where yield is increasingly packaged alongside spot exposure, moving the conversation towards product performance, investor demand and longer-term viability in traditional markets.
