Inside The Blockchain
🔺What we’re watching: The Avalanche Policy Coalition has launched an advisory council that aims to coordinate how the industry to engage with regulators. The effort is being led by Ava Labs’ General Counsel Lee Schneider, and will see senior Avalanche executives participating, as well as UK House of Lords member Chris Holmes.
🔺Why it matters: Crypto regulation is entering a more formal phase. In the U.S., lawmakers are working towards establishing broader industry rules, while agencies like the SEC and CFTC are updating their approaches.
Avalanche said the council will focus on three priorities in 2026: how digital tokens are classified under the law; how regulators define intermediaries (such as exchanges and service providers); and protecting open access to the internet.
🔺The bigger picture: Governments worldwide are advancing crypto regulations at different speeds, creating fragmented rulesets across regions.
Avalanche’s council aims to participate in these discussions, with a goal to better align shared regulatory principles while improving cross-border consistency for blockchain companies.
