Avalanche By The Numbers

  • Avalanche Total Value Locked (TVL): $1.34B (-1.80%)

  • Avalanche C-Chain daily txns: 2.6M (+36.84%)

  • Max transactions per second: 412 (+0.49%)

  • Total Avalanche validators: 733 (+4.86%)

  • Total Avalanche L1s: 430 (+1.42%)

The percentages and metrics are based on a 7-day timeframe from Token Relations data, unless noted otherwise.

Inside The Blockchain

🔺What we’re watching: Daily Avalanche Interchain Messaging (ICM) transactions hit an all-time high of 15,400 on January 11.

🔺Why it matters: Avalanche ICM allows independent Avalanche layer-1 (L1) blockchains to communicate and move assets or data between one another.

Unlike Ethereum layer-2 (L2) networks, where multiple chains share the same validators and security, each Avalanche L1 has its own validators, gas fees, and governance rules. ICM lets apps and users operate across multiple L1s without leaving the Avalanche network.

Much of the recent spike happened this week:

  • CX, a gaming-focused Avalanche L1, facilitated 22,600 transactions in total, of which nearly half (11,332) outflowed to the Avalanche C-Chain.

  • Grotto, a platform that lets indie-game developers monetize digital assets, reported 9,900 total ICM transfers. Of that, just 5 transfers outflowed to C-Chain, while 9,987 inflowed from C-Chain.

  • Henesys, an Avalanche L1 developed by MapleStory Universe, saw 13,500 total ICM, with 10,461 outflowing to C-Chain and 3,512 inflowing.

🔺The bigger picture: Each ICM transaction represents a transfer of value or data between chains.

More messages mean that liquidity is moving more freely, and Avalanche L1s are coordinating with each other to execute trades across chains.

Chart Of The Week

The Avalanche C-Chain recorded an all-time high of 1.4M active addresses on Jan. 12.
