Inside The Network
🔺What we’re watching: Bitwise has filed a Form S-1 with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for a staked Avalanche ETF.
🔺Why it matters: With the new proposed Avalanche ETF, Bitwise is looking to increase AVAX’s exposure to traditional markets.
The filing has staking as a secondary objective for the ETF, allowing up to 70% of its AVAX holdings to be delegated to validators on Avalanche’s blockchain. This would generate annual rewards of 7% to 10%, based on network participation, that would be then distributed to shareholders.
The filing follows the IRS’ updated guidance to reduce tax complications for yield-bearing crypto products. The new guidelines reduce uncertainty for both users and platforms, as lowering compliance risk can give people more confidence to participate in yield programs without worrying about unexpected taxable events.
With clearer rules, issuers like Bitwise can design and scale yield mechanisms more freely, ultimately helping the broader market gain a sense of regulatory legitimacy.
🔺The bigger picture: A staked Avalanche ETF can help transform AVAX into an income-generating asset class, and stands to generate a flywheel effect where early inflows and liquidity can attract larger allocations from institutions. That can in turn deepen Avalanche’s capital markets footprint.
