Highlight of the The Root Networks
Diving deeper into some of the biggest updates from Futureverse.
💫What’s happening: In order for web3 games to succeed, they need better social login integration, Futureverse co-founders Aaron McDonald and Marco Brondani shared on an X space.
💫Why it matters: The Futureverse is taking steps to build the open metaverse and to showcase how gaming and culture can intertwine, McDonald shared. In order for web2 gamers to be onboarded, the process needs to become less comprehensive, he added. In order to do this, the amount of inbound options a user can use to sign up needs to scale and become more accessible.
“The goal for the Futurepass is that it should be the simplest place for anyone anywhere to be onboarded into web3 so they can access anything from anyplace,” McDonald said. “Instead of making users jump through hoops, we need to meet them where they already are.”
The combination of the Futurepass, The Root Network, and its asset registry plans to act as the base layer for interoperability. This is because the base layer can connect assets to behave as if they’re under one ecosystem.
“The Futurepass would connect users together and the collaboration with Emergence SDK is our next step to give developers the ability to directly connect users,” McDonald said. “Players who may have been transacting elsewhere, would connect with players on a separate chain, acting like a glue for the entire global web3 ecosystem.”
It’s also important to meet traditional gamers where they are, Brondani said. Most web3 games want to onboard as many users as possible, regardless if they’re crypto-native or not. So it's important for games to understand their target audience, educate them in an easy-to-understand way and demonstrate how web3 projects can support community developers.
Most gamers are active on web2 social apps like TikTok or Discord, and almost everyone has an email. The Futurepass incorporated mainstream apps and email providers as social login options because a majority of users already have those accounts.
“The metaverse is already here, we’re already living in it,” Brondani said. “Users are already able to login to all sorts of apps, so it's important to go to the users rather than have them come to us.”
💫 The bigger picture: In a broader sense, the Futureverse wants to build tools that are familiar for all kinds of users: in web2 or web3.
The ecosystem’s core mission is to embrace new users and make them feel welcome, while also embedding web3-native features, such as interoperability. Tools like the Futurepass and collaboration with the Emergence SDK showcase the Futureverse’s continued efforts to pave the way for the open metaverse across all audiences.
