🔺What we’re watching: Konami Digital Entertainment Co., a Japanese game developer and publisher, announced its plans to launch an web3-gaming focused NFT platform called Resella on Avalanche.
🔺Why it matters: Konami Digital Entertainment is a reputable gaming company that is behind some of the most well known gaming franchises such as the Yu-Gi-Oh Trading Card Game, Castlevania, and Metal Gear Solid. It has also published games for consoles like PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. Through the development of Resella and its partnership with Ava Labs, Konami aims to streamline blockchain integration and ability to issue NFTs and trade them within their applications and marketplace.
Resella simplifies the user experience by eliminating the requirement for a web3 wallet, making it easier to onboard non-crypto native users, and features the ability to facilitate transactions using Japanese yen. This could alleviate frictions users might encounter and provide a smoother first-time web3 experience.
Konami wants Resella to further enhance digital experiences with plans to incorporate in-game NFTs or gated content. With its development on an Avalanche subnet, it can provide Konami tailored customization for the platform.
🔺TLDR: The introduction of Resella showcases the capabilities of what’s possible for web3 gaming on the Avalanche blockchain and the customization that building on a subnet has to offer. This partnership between Ava Labs and Konami could open the doors to bring more awareness to the Avalanche ecosystem, web3 gaming and the overall NFT sector.
