#️⃣ What’s happening: HashPack Wallet became a community partner of the Hedera Council.
#️⃣ Why it matters: HashPack Wallet is widely used among Hedera applications and is often cited by the community as a primary wallet. While becoming a community partner does not give HashPack a say in governance, it signals that Hedera is aiming to align its ecosystem with broader network updates, including greater participation in Hedera Improvement Proposal discussions.
HashPack is a non-custodial wallet that lets people hold and stake HBAR tokens, and connect to Hedera-based apps. For many users, HashPack is the first place they interact with the network. While Hedera has not officially named HashPack as its “flagship” wallet, the application is among the most prominent, with more than 1 million accounts created and more than $1 billion in value stored.
#️⃣ The bigger picture: HashPack Wallet’s inclusion in the Hedera Council’s community partner framework creates a more direct connection between how the network is developed and how users experience it.
The Hedera Council is made up of organizations that run nodes and vote on network decisions. Its community partner program is a way for Hedera to acknowledge projects that are important to day-to-day network usage.
