AggLayer Spotlight
🟪What happened: Humanity Protocol, a digital identity-focused layer-2 blockchain, launched its testnet.
🟪Why does it matter: Humanity Protocol's first rollout of its testnet can bring the network a step closer to proof-of-humanity (PoH) on the AggLayer. PoH aims to verify that a user is real, opposed to a bot or AI system, without revealing who they are or private information.
The network leverages the Polygon Chain Development Kit and zero-knowledge (ZK) technology in hopes of providing a more secure private identity validation method.
As the world becomes more digital and the rise of AI continues, it’s important to preserve genuine humane interactions and discern between real and fake. If not, it could lead to increased risks of digital identity theft, among other concerns.
However, ZK technology and PoH mechanisms aim to alleviate these risks by generating verification steps that can’t be done by a bot, to prove human ownership. As Humanity Protocol integrates into the AggLayer, it can begin to mitigate the risks tied to centralized data storage systems. The AggLayer aims to make more interconnected systems, and with the current risks that centralized systems carry, this implementation can solve this issue.
🟪The big picture: Data fragmentation is inhibiting AI from reaching its full potential at the moment. However, AI is not a total liability, but can rather be used as an asset when utilized correctly.
Majority of traditional technologies are not scaling to meet the need for more computations. But the integration of AggLayer technology can act as a solution for this.
As the three-phase launch of Humanity Protocol’s testnet rolls out, it could become a go-to case study of how the integration of the AggLayer can break the barrier between real world identity and one’s digital self.
