Injecting in the biggest developments
🥷 What happened: Injective has added support for trading pre-IPO perpetual futures to its network letting users trade synthetic instruments linked to the valuations of private companies like OpenAI directly onchain.
🥷 Why it matters: By enabling synthetic perpetual future trading, Injective is unlocking access to the pre-IPO market for retail and institutional traders via platforms like Helix.
Pre-IPO shares, which have long been accessible only to venture funds and accredited investors, make up a $12 trillion asset class that’s traditionally been in high demand due to the large upside potential presented by startups. But private market companies are hard to get into for retail investors, and institutions usually avoid investing in startups as they’re inherently risky.
With pre-IPO trading, Injective aims to give all kinds of investors exposure to companies before they go public, lowering barriers for both retail and institutional participants to diversify into high-growth assets.
As demand from traders for speculation tools rises, Injective can leverage blockchain technology to enable real-time position management and direct integrations that alleviate the limitations of centralized platforms.
🥷 The bigger picture: Unlike other pre-IPO solutions from the likes of Robinhood, Injective’s pre-IPO perpetual futures are hosted fully onchain, it’s a completely open market that lets anyone invest in major private companies and trade them using leverage.
The new functionality also showcases the network’s strengths in tokenization and RWA integration, potentially paving the way to support more pre-IPO markets or other asset classes.
