💨 What’s happening: Kalshi’s prediction market platform now supports deposits and withdrawals for SEI tokens and USDC issued on the Sei network.
💨 Why it matters: Prediction markets are more popular than ever, and Kalshi itself reported its daily average trading volume has increased to $12 million.
Kalshi’s adding support for USDC and SEI opens the gates to crypto-native users who’d like to fund their Kalshi accounts via onchain transfers. Supporting USDC lets the company maintain regulatory compliance, and with SEI, users can withdraw funds directly into Sei’s ecosystem and stake their funds without having to convert them off-chain.
For Sei, the integration routes both USDC and SEI deposits onto its network, exposing its parallelized EVM infrastructure to a regulated, high-volume trading venue. Enabling SEI deposits gives users the option to build an onchain workflow that facilitates deposits, trading and withdrawals in SEI, which has the potential to increase network activity.
💨 The bigger picture: Prediction markets continue to expand as a category, and Kalshi is set to report annualized volume of $70 billion. By supporting both USDC and SEI, Kalshi adds Sei as an additional settlement environment for users who prefer onchain transfers.
Over time, higher interaction between prediction markets and onchain yield products could facilitate more stablecoin and native-token flows into networks like Sei.
