Sei Showcase

💨 What’s happening: Kindred Labs has partnered with IPX, a subsidiary of South Korean conglomerate Naver, to bring the LINE FRIENDS portfolio of characters to Kindred’s new AI companion platform.

💨 Why it matters: The partnership gives Kindred access a portfolio of characters that have a large following in South Korea, including LINE FRIENDS, BT21, and ZO&FRIENDS. These characters are inspired by stickers on Naver’s various app as well as the Line messaging app.

With this deal, IPX will add its portfolio of characters to Kindred’s assortment of licensed characters like Pudgy Penguins, Teletubbies, Tezuka's Astro Boy, and Winx.

When installed, Kindred's AI companions will appear on users' screens, on both desktop and mobile, and function as personal assistants. The company plans to add support for smart glasses as well.

Kindred’s direct partnership with IPX may prove a useful stress test because LINE Friends, especially the character BROWN, has been around for 15 years, and has a global fan base. The partnership will produce a clear signal on whether character-led AI can work outside crypto-native audiences.

💨 The bigger picture: Sei has been positioning itself as a hub for tokenized real-world assets and the AI agent economy. The RWA side has institutional signals from BlackRock, Apollo, and Ondo Finance's USDY deployment. The AI side has been thinner on consumer proof points, so Kindred’s partnership with IPX can serve as a Sei-native product built for mainstream users rather than crypto natives.
