What Caught Our Eye This Month
Ripple is integrating the RLUSD stablecoin into Ethereum L2s, starting with Optimism, Base, Ink, and Unichain. In partnership with Wormhole and using its NTT standard, the integration makes RLUSD the first U.S.-based stablecoin on these networks, creating liquidity pairs with wrapped XRP (wXRP), and establishing cross-chain infrastructure that enables institutional capital to move seamlessly between XRPL and Ethereum Layer 2 ecosystems.
Singapore’s monetary authority has expanded the scope of Ripple’s Major Payment Institution (MPI) license. This allows Ripple Markets APAC to broaden its regulated payment offerings in Singapore, positioning the network as one of the few blockchain-enabled institutions globally with an MPI license.
Swiss crypto lender, Amina Bank, has partnered with Ripple to tap the blockchain’s Payments infrastructure to provide cross-border payments services that work with traditional payment rails. The partnership extends AMINA Bank's role as the first bank globally to support RLUSD custody and trading services.
XRP Rundown
➡️ What happened: Evernorth, an XRP digital asset treasury backed by Ripple and SBI Holdings, is partnering with Doppler Finance to pilot institutional liquidity and treasury management use cases directly on the XRP Ledger.
➡️ Why it matters: As the fourth- largest cryptocurrency by market cap (at $126 billion), XRP represents significant untapped capital that this collaboration aims to activate through productive deployment.
The partnership aims to design frameworks for deploying institutional XRP capital onchain, including structured liquidity deployment and yield generation strategies. Evernorth currently holds 473.3 million XRP, valued at approximately $988.3 million, representing about 0.5% of XRP's total supply, according to CoinGecko data.
With nearly a billion under management, Evernorth’s holdings significantly exceed any individual XRP ETF. Only Canary Capital's XRPC ETF comes close with $391.5 million in net assets, according to SoSoValue data.
While the aggregate XRP ETF market has reached $1.53 billion, these funds only provide passive exposure to price movements. Evernorth's partnership with Doppler seeks to build institutional frameworks for deploying that capital into yield-generating strategies, liquidity provision, and treasury operations directly on XRPL.
ETF holders gain regulated access to XRP price movements, and Evernorth intends to actively grow its XRP per share by participating in the ecosystem and capital markets.
And by collaborating with an infrastructure provider like Doppler, Evernorth gains access to audited reserves, regulated custody, and vetted yield strategies designed for institutional scale. Doppler is currently the second-largest protocol on XRPL, with $92.6 million in total value locked.
The timing aligns with RLUSD's rapid expansion as the liquidity layer supporting such activities. RLUSD's market cap now stands at $1.35 billion, and supply on XRPL has increased 24.7% in the past seven days to $293 million.
Moreover, RLUSD’s expansion to Ethereum layer-2 chains such as Optimism, Base, Ink, and Unichain via Wormhole's NTT standard enables liquidity pairs with wrapped XRP, establishing cross-chain infrastructure for institutional capital flows.
➡️ The big picture: The partnership signals that institutional XRP adoption is evolving beyond simple custody into active treasury management and onchain capital deployment. It also addresses a core limitation of ETF-based exposure: while ETFs provide regulated access, they don't enable institutions to participate in the economic activity happening on the blockchain itself.
The deployment of XRP digital assets, ETFs growth, and RLUSD's expansion as a stablecoin bridge are establishing the infrastructure foundation required for institutional capital to actively work on onchain financial systems.
