Movement Monthly Spotlight

Movement's four-week M1 Hackathon, which started shortly before the launch of its M1 Mainnet in December, saw more than 100 teams using the Move programming language to build various games, DeFi and consumer apps, as well as developer tools. Notably, all teams leveraged AI coding assistants in order to speed up development and provide deeper protocol-level experimentation.

Hackathon winners included:

  • The Fallen Court: A dungeon-based crawler game that alters the level based on wallet activity

  • Trace: Lets developers fork their apps on Movement mainnet for testing purposes

  • Movehat: A toolkit that includes deployment tracking and mainnet forking

  • SportsMove: A decentralized sports betting app that uses live odds

  • AlgoArena: Lets users place bets based on what trends price action will follow

  • Predictly: A prediction market that lets users participate in a group format

Hackathons like M1 provide a structured environment for developers to learn, experiment and deploy on new infrastructure. By emphasizing developer tooling, the event addressed a key area for Move: giving builders the resources to efficiently create applications and developer workflows.

Developer engagement is a priority for Move’s ecosystem, as early applications and tooling can lay a foundation for future projects. This approach mirrors industry trends, where hackathons and incentive programs can go on to accelerate ecosystem growth and attract developers.

What’s Move-ing the Ecosystem

  • Hyperliquid added MOVE to its perpetual futures trading platform, and Movement Bridge added support for HyperEVM

  • Movelady’s NFT project will launch on Movement

  • Movement hosted a livestream with Tender Merchant to showcase MOVE’s spending power on its point-of-sale device
