Exploring the chain
🔥What we’re watching: Matchain has transitioned from its testnet to mainnet on Wednesday, in hopes to provide better data ownership opportunities for its users.
🔥Why it matters: Before its mainnet launch, Matchain’s public testnet saw over 180 million transactions processed and over 5 million wallets created. The chain, which is built on the OP Stack and powered by the BNB chain, transitioned to mainnet in hopes to amplify these numbers and generate more value for its users.
In general, mainnet launches are huge milestones for blockchains and their ecosystems because it’s a signal that the chain is ready to move on from its test phase. It also opens the door to developers, users and broader audiences, potentially bringing greater attention to the network.
“We’re incredibly proud of what we accomplished during our testnet, exceeding expectations in transactions and user engagement,” Petrix Barbosa, Matchain CEO, said exclusively to Token Relations. “This transition is about proving the strength of our community, the potential of our dApps, and solidifying Matchain’s position as a potential leader in the space.”
Major Tech and consumer businesses like Google, Apple, Amazon have full control over their users’ data, and in turn these companies can sell it to whomever. Matchain sees this as a problem because despite user data being sold separately, individuals never see where or how it's shared, said Jessie Xiao, Matchain Chief Commercial Officer.
As community is a core value for Matchain, the launch of mainnet hopes to generate more user engagement and change the way data is shared and owned for players within its ecosystem.
