Inside the network
🔺What we’re watching: Octane integrated its AI-powered security platform to the Avalanche network, to help alleviate developer bottlenecks.
🔺Why it matters: For almost every single protocol, it needs to go through traditional audits to ensure the platform doesn’t contain any vulnerabilities it may encounter. Oftentimes, these audits can be a restraint for some teams since it requires time-consuming code processes. In turn, it could lead to delaying launches and straining of security resources.
In an effort to alleviate this, Octane integrates real-time code scanning, tailored specifically for Avalanche’s architecture, so developers can catch issues as they code. It is designed to shift security measurements to the beginning of the development process. This intervention could reduce the time commitment and risk of costly delays needed to complete the audit.
For Avalanche, this integration can address the inefficiencies of traditional web3 security practices, where audits are conducted at the end of development cycles. Octane wants to flip the script by providing immediate feedback that's integrated with developers’ existing tools. This can make for faster changes and reduced audit costs.
In a growing landscape where narratives are constantly changing, speed and security are paramount for protocols to grow in web3. With that said, this allows teams to launch products with a faster timeline, while not relinquishing security measures.
🔺The bigger picture: Avalanche and Octane can shift the builder route from traditional, reactive security audits to a proactive, continuous model embedded in the developer workflow.
Unlike the conventional route, where teams build features first and address security vulnerabilities during late-stage audits, developers can identify and resolve issues, while building out a protocol.
Through early bug detection, Octane looks to reduce the friction of late refactoring, enabling teams to focus more on secure dApps in an efficient manner.
This release showcases a broader vision for developer ecosystems, demonstrating how integrated security tools can create a more accepted and standardized framework across the broader web3 landscape. And it could pave the way for a new standardized approach to security.
