🟪What happened: Web3 gaming focused Ronin Network announced it will enable zero-knowledge Ethereum Virtual Machines (zkEVM) on its chain, allowing developers to leverage the Polygon Chain Development Kit (CDK) to create their own chains.
🟪Why does it matter: Ronin is a game-centric EVM blockchain with over 1.5 million daily active users, making it one of the largest gaming blockchains across the industry. By using the Polygon CDK, it opens up the doors for Ronin and the CDK to expand capabilities in the web3 gaming space. Ronin also wants to make web3 games more scalable with increased transaction speeds and lower fees, which can in turn onboard more gamers. Developers can utilize their own zkEVM and have the ability to launch their own layer-2 blockchains on top of Ronin.These new Ronin-based chains could increase the number of web3 games and users.
With its high daily active users and goal of creating accessible gaming for everyone, Ronin hopes the inclusion of zkEVM will also offer stability for the network and bring it higher usage rates as Ronin continues to scale.
Ronin also plans to further enhance the capabilities of the network with plans to be a part of the AggLayer as the technology becomes more advanced.
🟪The big picture: Ronin’s implementation of zkEVM and Polygon CDK can provide growth opportunities for developers onchain and easier accessibility for users playing web3 games. Although it’s early days for the integration, it could make games faster, more seamless and smoother, combatting issues that have impeded previous web3 games.

Immutable announced its launch of Baby Shark Universe, offering zkEVM technology to be included in its game development
Azuro Protocol launched a $20K grant program to incentivize developers to build onchain prediction apps on Polygon Proof-of-Stake (PoS)
Cookie3 integrated an AI data layer, allowing Polygon PoS projects to make data-driven decisions
Wirex Pay introduced its implementation of the AggLayer for its decentralized payment network
