Sei Showcase

💨 What’s happening: Toku, a payroll platform, has integrated Sei into its system, allowing companies to pay their employees and vendors in USDC via Sei.

💨 Why it matters: Toku connects employers and payroll providers such as Workday and ADP with stablecoin payment rails.

Stablecoins are widely used for trading and transfers, so integrating with payroll systems adds a more routine use case such as paying salaries to employees and contractors.

Traditional payroll systems boast modern features, but they depend on clearing systems and sometimes only operate within a range of business hours. This could be limiting for making international payments in particular, which can take several days to settle.

Blockchain-based payments systems solve that particular issue because they run 24/7 and can settle transfers within minutes.

💨 The bigger picture: Toku’s integration of Sei isn’t meant to replace existing payroll providers, as they are already widely used. It is simply extending the payroll system to blockchains, allowing businesses to use stablecoins for payments, alongside traditional methods.

As stablecoins expand beyond trading venues into operational finance, payroll can serve as good testing grounds for whether blockchain infrastructure can support everyday income flows at scale.
