Spotlight on Optimism’s Superchain
🔴 What’s happening: Kroma Network, a gaming-centric layer-2 network (L2), announced its partnership with GameSwift, a web3 gaming ecosystem.
🔴 Why it matters: Kroma Network and GameSwift are two chains built on the OP Stack and are a part of the Superchain. Both ecosystems hope to bring their visions of onchain gaming and consumer applications to its respective communities.
For context, GameSwift joined the Superchain back in June after it launched GameSwift Modular Chain, an AI gaming layer-2 blockchain (L2).
The web3 gaming space has been heating up and now Gameswift is taking another step to improve gamers’ experiences.
By leveraging Kroma’s rollup-based solution, which combines the strengths of Optimistic and Zero-Knowledge (ZK) technology, it could provide a more cost efficient and simplified new player experience.
This in turn could create a more interconnected gaming ecosystem and enhance user engagement by streamlining the onboarding process for both web3-natives and newcomers.
🔴 What it means for the broader ecosystem: The partnership between Kroma and GameSwift can mark a significant leap for web3 gaming on the Superchain. Given that it aims to provide enhanced scalability, the technology could help meet the demands of an overall rapidly growing market.
Given the growth of web3 gaming in recent quarters, this partnership opens opportunities for greater development and fostering more interconnected ecosystems that provide developers the opportunity to push the boundaries of what’s possible with web3 tech.
This could also drive expansion for onchain gaming through coordinated online and offline innovation, setting a new standard for the industry.
