Ripple Rundown
➡️What happened: Ripple expanded its Middle East presence through a strategic partnership with Ctrl Alt, a tokenized infrastructure platform, to support Dubai's government-backed Real Estate Tokenization Project.
This comes at a time when Mercado Bitcoin also announced plans to tokenize over $200 million in regulated real-world assets (RWA) on the XRP Ledger (XRPL).
➡️Why does it matter: These partnerships, while independent of one another, showcase the institutional blockchain adoption that’s moving beyond payments into regulated asset custody and tokenization. Ctrl Alt uses Ripple's institutional custody technology to secure tokenized property title deeds on the XRPL. This marks the first time a Middle Eastern government authority has tokenized real estate on a public blockchain.
Ctrl Alt also recently secured its VASP license from VARA, to be an authorized provider for issuer-related services, creating a compliant pipeline from asset issuance to custody and settlement. The Dubai Land Department's project enables fractional ownership of real estate through tokenized title deeds, allowing multiple investors to co-own properties. This points to a potential shift toward accessible and transparent property investments in one of the world's major financial centers.
Meanwhile, Mercado Bitcoin looks to bring greater institutional credibility to the market. It ranks as one of the top five tokenizers of private credit assets with over $1 billion in Brazilian Reals tokenized, according to RWA.xyz. The company serves 4 million clients and operates under institutional auditing standards to remain compliant. Additionally, its $200 million tokenization plan includes fixed income and equity instruments across South America and Europe, opening up XRPL to these markets.
➡️The big picture: Ripple aims to position itself as one of the leading infrastructures for institutional digital asset adoption across custody and payments. As a major contributor to the XRPL, Ripple aims on bring high-quality assets to the XRPL ecosystem. The company holds over 60 regulatory licenses globally and serves clients across Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia-Pacific and Latin America.
According to reports by Ripple and Boston Consulting Group, RWA tokenization is projected to grow from $600 billion in 2025 to nearly $19 trillion by 2033, driven by institutional adoption.
XRPL’s technical foundation supports this institutional demand, especially as it continues to improve its capabilities with compliant DeFi features for tokenization. The network has processed over 3.3 billion transactions and supports over 6 million active wallets. This infrastructure can provide institutions the compliance frameworks needed for regulated tokenization at scale.
